My name is Anthony D. Bobo, born August 18 at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. I have always had a talent for singing and songwriting. My interest began in Junior High School, learning to play tenor saxophone, xylophone, and singing briefly in the school choir. As years passed, I developed a passion for creating music by ear and writing lyrics for songs. I never took it seriously until I met a talented pianist and fellow saxophone player who overheard me sing one of my original songs after school one day. He asked if I would accompany him in a school talent show. The invitation made me feel that I should take my natural talents seriously. After giving his invitation some thought, I accepted his offer. After our performance I decided to perfect and master my musical abilities. I learned a great deal about how to maximize my skills by studying the techniques he used to compose and arrange music on the piano and taught myself how to master my voice and other musical abilities. I patterned my vocal singing after the notes on the piano and the tones from the tenor saxophone, and practiced for long hours on how to inhale & exhale, so I could control projecting my voice outward. This developed clarity of my voice, vocal range, and the ability to hear different pitches of sounds; the breathing techniques came easy to me because of the years of practice playing the tenor saxophone. The tones & notes from piano & saxophone, gave me and understanding of what pitch meant, and how to use my voice to reach the sounds I heard with my ear. I replicated the octaves from the tenor saxophone and created low and high pitch sounds with my voice. I formed a natural low octave voice and a high pitch falsetto voice, and sharpened my vocal abilities. Along the way, as I continued to master my musical abilities, my band mate and I created a band together and played local gigs around town; with him playing the piano, and me singing lead vocals. Saxophone was both of our instrument of choice, and on various cover tunes and original music at any club or event we could find, we took turns showing off our ability to play the instrument. After playing around different venues for a while, each member of our band decided that they wanted to pursue solo projects, so we broke up the band and followed solo career paths. During this time, I developed a passion for writing short stories; I never thought to publish my work until now. Writing has always been a natural ability, but I never thought to use my songwriting skills to create short novel stories. I am still and accomplished singer songwriter, producer, and performer, but creating short novel stories also brings me great joy and gratification; to create fantasy books, audio books, and short movies of work, accompanied by my own instrumental music scores is one of the best ways for me to express my thoughts and creativity. Just as a musical composition tells a story, books present the reader with and experience that transports them on a journey to a world created by the author, and shares the author’s inner-thoughts and creativity. I consider it a privilege to be able to write and compose music that will accompany my book creations and leave a legacy of my work for generations to come.
